CORE CLASSIC

Quest’s flagship course spans four terms, running from January to December, and is specifically designed for male applicants aged 17 to 21. The first three terms of the program encompass the Quest Core Course activities, which focus on the development of essential life skills in

 

The fourth term, often referred to as Core+, is dedicated to specialisation and further enhancing leadership and technical abilities acquired during the Core program.

Upon graduating from the Core Course, participants have the opportunity to concentrate on skills development in specific selected areas of interest. This includes gaining practical leadership experience and engaging in a work placement relevant to their chosen field. The program offers flexibility, combining experiential learning opportunities with hands-on leadership experience, work placements, and culminating in the planning and execution of an overland expedition.

Quest Core graduates can choose to specialise in one of the three designated areas of expertise, as outlined below. This specialisation allows participants to delve deeper into their chosen field, refining their skills and knowledge to excel in their respective domains.

By offering a comprehensive curriculum, practical experiences, and the option to specialize, Quest provides a dynamic and tailored learning journey for participants, equipping them with the necessary tools and expertise to thrive in their chosen areas of focus.

Area's of specialisation:

THE BUSH INCLUDING NATURAL AND TECHNICAL ACUMENS

This includes:

  • Placement in safari camp 
  • Intense preparation for Zim Hunters and Guides qualification

 

Further instruction in topics such as:

  • Firearms 
  • Falconry
  • Bush mechanics 
  • Anti-poaching 
  • Advanced fieldcraft
TECHNICAL

The Technical module will focus on the project management and development of a significant infrastructure project requiring a combination of trade skills. Instruction will be given in the following areas:

  • Advanced welding
  • Advanced plumbing
  • Advanced vehicle mechanics
  • Fibre-glassing
  • Marine engine maintenance
SPORT AND ADVENTURE 

The sport and adventure module will cover:

  • Coaching experience in school environment 
  • Coaching clinics 
  • Development of outdoor adventure skills 
  • Outward bound attachment 
  • Leadership role in other Quest programs 
  • Aspects of personal training 
  • Sports ground maintenance

ADVENTURE:

Specialised extension on chosen acumen. Includes advanced skill acquisition, practical leadership experience, work experience related to the chosen sector and planning and executing a cross-border (COVID dependent) overland expedition.
