Our 6 Acumen

The Education School Forgot To Include

Twelve years of school and most people still cannot change a tyre, read a balance sheet or speak in front of a room without falling apart. Quest’s six acumens – Physical, Technical, Natural, Media, Social and Business – exist to close that gap. Practical skills, real certifications and the kind of capability that shows up long before anyone checks your grades.

1

Technical

Welding across MIG, TIG and oxy-acetylene. Engine strip and rebuild. Bricklaying, plumbing, electrical wiring and woodwork. You learn to build walls, wire circuits, install plumbing systems and fix vehicles in a working workshop with qualified instructors. These are automation-resistant trade skills that go on a CV and stay with you for life.

2

Physical

Daily structured fitness training, endurance events including a half marathon and triathlon, rock climbing, white water rafting the Zambezi, horseback riding and certified first aid. You train hard, travel through Zimbabwe’s most extraordinary landscapes and build the kind of physical and mental resilience that no gym membership replicates.

3

Natural

Wildlife tracking, species identification, bushcraft and survival, conservation, regenerative farming, livestock management and professional guiding on an 850-hectare game estate in Zimbabwe. You learn to read landscapes, manage ecosystems, work the land and understand the natural world at a level that goes far beyond appreciation.

4

Business

Financial literacy, entrepreneurship, Dragons’ Den style pitching, project management, business proposals and AI in business. You learn to read a balance sheet, track cash flow, identify opportunities, manage a project from brief to delivery and present an idea to a room that will challenge every assumption you make.

5

Media

Photography, videography, editing, journalism, AI-assisted content creation and digital literacy using professional tools including Adobe Lightroom and iMovie. You learn to see a story, frame it, capture it and produce it to a standard that holds up in a portfolio, a pitch or a professional brief.

6

Social

Leadership, public speaking built on Toastmasters methodology, character development, emotional intelligence, community service in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, and personal development planning. You learn to lead under pressure, present with confidence, manage group dynamics and build the kind of trust that only comes from being direct, honest and present.
